A fun walk down memory lane released in the 1950s by the Oregon Coast Association in Newport, “Along the Oregon Coast” is a detailed travel guide about the Oregon coast, highlighting its natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and various attractions … including the Cape Blanco Lighthouse!

It is worth noting that the first lighthouse shown (at 2:16) when the narrator is discussing Cape Blanco is actually Yaquina Head Lighthouse.

Not Cape Blanco Lighthouse

While you are on the Oregon Coast, we recommend visiting our historic lighthouses. For a map of all of the lighthouses on the Oregon Coast, check out this popular 2018 map by Oregon State Parks.

Another interesting video was sent to us recently featuring a 1969 Port Orford Scuba Diving DVD by Ken Paddock courtesy of the Northwest Diving History Association’s archive. We certainly don’t recommend wrestling an octopus out of its den for a better view, but it sure is incredible to see our area thriving with kelp, whales and sea lions!
