Port Orford has roots in the historic KSOR Translators effort which ultimately became Jefferson Public Radio. Thanks to the persistence of the town’s citizens, the first antennas were erected in 1982 and the rest is history. Below is a collection of articles on the topic, as well as a letter from Ronald Kramer who was SOU’s Director of Broadcast Activities at the time (and eventually became Executive Director of JPR) outlining the magnitude and importance of this groundbreaking project.
