Port Orford History dating back 100 years is now available online through the University of Oregon’s Digital Newspaper Program. The Cape Blanco Heritage Society has been working with UofO to make this history available. The collection is fully searchable and organized by date and by front cover. This project is supported in part by a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation and the Oregon Heritage Commission, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
Several collections are now available online and you can browse each one at the following links:
• Port Orford Tribune Archive – (1892-19??)
• Port Orford Post Archive – (1937-19??)
• Port Orford News Archive – (1926-193?)
More great finds in UofO’s Historic Oregon Newspapers Archive:
• Southwest Oregon Recorder (Denmark) – (188?-18??)
• Curry County Post Archive – (1 issue from 1880!)
The scanning of microfilm will conclude in April 2025 and at that time we will assess what issues may be missing from the collection(s) and add them as they are located. Thanks to the Port Orford News for their collaboration on this project!
